The Green Exhibitor
Quickstart: Reduce Your Event Footprint
Sustainability is on everyone’s radar. But it’s not always clear how to make exhibiting more eco-conscious, especially while juggling all of your other exhibit details.
To get started, here are some quick ways to help you become a green exhibitor. And stay tuned for additional resources, content, and products coming your way soon!
Following this guide will help you reduce:
- Solid waste with reusable, recycled materials
- Shipping weight, which means fewer carbon emissions
- Cost with flexible booth systems and cost-efficient storage
- Wattage from lighting to lower energy used
Eco-exhibiting made easier
Booth build: eco built in
Today’s booth builds allow for flexible structures that are reusable and recyclable (partially or fully). These include ready-to-go rentals and options that still allow you to customize your space.
Explore aluminum-frame rentals with removable fabric displays — these are much lighter, easier to ship, and can be used over and over. This cuts down on waste and shipping weight, which reduces carbon emissions.
Carpeting: sustainability on a roll
Need support underfoot, but want to be more eco? Avoid custom colors and custom cuts. Work with your event partner to map out your roll with standard colors and sizes, which can be reused, cutting down on waste.
Want to go the extra step? Select darker shades — these are easier to clean, making them ideal for reuse..
Furniture: naturally better
When it comes to seating, counters, and other furniture, prioritize materials made from natural elements such as metal or wood over items made from plastic or vinyl.
Choose rental furniture that can be reused. If you choose to purchase furniture, factor in storage and shipping so you can use these products for multiple events.
Signage: get it in writing
If you need to print, find a printer that uses zero volatile organic compounds (VOC) water-based, soy-based, or vegetable-based inks.
Then, choose eco-friendly graphics on substrates such as 100% recyclable honeycomb (or ask us about Freeman Paperboard) over PVC overlays.
Or, skip as much printing as much as possible and go digital. Digital signage helps reduce printing needs and allows for rotating messages on the same sign (and easy on-site fixes!).
Lighting: more spotlight, less energy
Light up your booth with LED panels that can put any size booth in the spotlight while using less energy.
Giveaways: sharing is caring
When it comes to swag, look for options (think reusable water bottles, recycled tote bags, etc.) that promote your brand while being environmentally friendly.
Sustainability that’s sustainable
With these quickstart ideas, it’s easier to begin working towards your sustainability goals. But going green doesn’t have to happen overnight.
Working with an experienced exhibit partner that prioritizes sustainable choices can you help you achieve those goals without feeling overwhelmed. That way your exhibit has a positive impact on your business, the success of your business, and the environment.
